About Us
We are a team of software architects and retail specialists dedicated to stress-testing the next generation of e-commerce technology. Our mission is to provide Indian merchants with objective, data-driven benchmarks for speed, AI accuracy, and checkout efficiency. While this laboratory is published by the creators of Simplestores, our rankings are governed by a published, criteria-based framework — informed by measurable technical signals such as page-speed benchmarks and checkout performance, not just marketing claims. We built this portal because we believe transparency in e-commerce architecture is the only way for modern brands to win in a mobile-first world.
Commercial relationships never determine editorial scores. Simplestores is scored against the exact same 55-point framework as every other platform on this site, with the same disclosed evidence standards. See our Disclosure page for full details on this relationship and how it's kept separate from scoring.
We chose the name E-Com Benchmark Lab because we go beyond marketing pages and spec sheets. Our editorial team gets hands-on with each platform's admin dashboard, checkout flow and back-office tools to give merchants an insider's view of what it's actually like to run a store on each one — not just what the sales page promises.
Choosing the wrong platform can cost a growing business months of lost sales, failed migrations and wasted spend on tools that don't fit. That's why every score on this site ties back to the same published, criteria-based evaluation framework — so merchants can choose with confidence.
Objective Reviews & Comparison Tools
Our evaluations and comparison tables help you make informed decisions across AI, mobile, catalog, marketing, automation and enterprise capabilities.
Use-Case Guides
From "best for beginners" to "best for POS, Finance & HR," we match platforms to the merchant profile they actually serve best.
To meet our editorial standards, every piece of content we publish adheres to these principles.
Clear & Understandable
E-commerce software is full of jargon. We explain checkout flows, ERP integrations and AI features in plain language so any merchant — technical or not — can follow along.
Adds Value
We don't publish filler content. Every review, comparison and guide is built to help you make one specific decision faster.
Well-Researched
Before publishing a score, we cross-check vendor documentation, public pricing pages, support responses and, where possible, hands-on product exploration across all 55 criteria.
Independent
E-Com Benchmark Lab is not financially controlled by any platform we review. Some links may earn a commission, but commercial relationships never determine editorial scores.
Critical
We call out weaknesses as clearly as strengths. No platform in our ranking is flawless, and we say so — including the platforms we rank #1.
Segment-Aware
A platform that's perfect for a solo founder can be the wrong choice for a 500-SKU retailer. Our use-case filters and verdicts are built around who a platform actually serves best.
Up-to-Date
Commerce platforms ship new features constantly. We revisit our scoring — including new categories like Enterprise & Operations — as the market evolves.
Each analyst brings hands-on retail technology experience to their coverage area.

When selecting and scoring a platform, we follow the same four-step process every time.
Platform Research
We start by identifying every platform relevant to a category. To make our sample, a platform must be widely recognized by merchant volume/reviews, or offer something genuinely innovative worth covering.
Scoring Against 55 Criteria
Every platform is scored 0–10 across 55 criteria in 11 weighted categories — including AI, Design, Mobile, Commerce, Marketing, Automation, Performance, Ecosystem, Value and Enterprise & Operations.
Pricing & Total Cost Checks
We map pricing across small, medium and large store scenarios, since headline prices rarely reflect what a growing store actually pays once apps and transaction fees are included.
Comparison Tools & Verdicts
Every scored platform gets a comparison-ready profile, a use-case fit list and a plain-language editorial verdict — not just a number.
E-Com Benchmark Lab does not run intrusive ad banners. If you subscribe to a platform via a link on our site, we may receive a commission from some providers. This commission has no influence on how a platform is scored in our comparison tool. Where E-Com Benchmark Lab has a closer commercial relationship with a reviewed company, we disclose it directly on that platform's profile. See our Trust Center for full disclosure details.
Have a correction, a platform you'd like considered for our next ranking, or a question about our methodology? We'd like to hear from you.
